Project Objectives

The primary objectives of the Route 460 Corridor Improvements Project are the following;

1. Address roadway deficiencies along the corridor.
2. Improve highway safety along the existing Route 460.
3. Accommodate increasing freight shipments from Hampton Roads port facilities and regional distribution centers.
   
   
4. Reduce travel delay along the corridor.
   


5. Provide adequate hurricane evacuation capability for the Hampton Roads region.
   


6. Improve military strategic connectivity with and between regional military facilities.
   


7. Meet legislative mandates that identified the roadway as a high priority corridor.
   


8. Support local economic development plans.
